About B&D RV Center

      Some people say that when they think of Vernal they think of B&D RV Center, but most people know B&D as it sits today. Jhon & DR at the helm as a trailer sales, parts, & service business with a team behind them working to get you out on vacation. There is always a start and a story to a great built up business like B&D RV Center. This story starts with an entrepreneurial Grandpa Garth & his business adventures. Garth shared that entrepreneurial mindset with his son Brad and started an adventure together. Through hardwork & dedication this family has built B&D to what it is today as a third generation family owned business. In 1959 Garth left on a Greyhound Bus to go to radiator school in Salt Lake City. After a successful time in school Garth opened up his first radiator shop in the garage of his home in Measer in 1962. In order to complete his shop he installed a huge vat of chemicals to use for diagnostic purposes for the radiators and of course he had all of his tools. After a couple of years of running the radiator shop out of his garage he was able to rent a space on Main Street to open up a new shop. This shop was complete with a 2 car bay, office space, and the special coffee bench, where everyone stopped by for a cup of coffee. Garth & Joy were well liked in Vernal and the business did well. In about 1965 Garth added camp trailer rentals to diversify their business. First they had one & when it was paid for they bought another until the business grew!

      Garth was an entrepreneur by heart & enjoyed his work at the radiator shop but saw a need & wanted to help. During the time of Garth running his radiator shop he opened up G&H Garbage with Howard Horrocks. He ran this company for 7 years picking up residential garbage. He eventually sold G&H Garbage to Jack Chivers but continued to be an entrepreneur.

    Through the camp trailer rentals Garth became friends with Jack Turner. Jack owned BLI which stood for Better Living Inc.. At this time both Garth & Jack wanted their business to grow. Garth decided to close the radiator shop around the same time he sold G&H Garbage and became partners in BLI with Jack Turner. BLI was in the current location of B&D today! BLI was a mobile home park , mobile home sales, moved mobile homes, did trailer repairs, and owned a KOA. When Garth partnered up with Jack, he brought over his camp trailer rentals. They ran this business out of a small office and shop. In 1973 Garth bought out Jack Turner and became sole owner of BLI. Garth ultimately decided to close down the trailer park and turned it into the big lot that is now known as B&D RV Center. In 1970 Garth slowly phased out the mobile home sales and increased their camp trailer sales. As a businessman Garth decided to sell the KOA and in turn purchased a trailer factory in southern Utah in 1972 which produced RoadRunner trailers. He kept the factory until 1975. .

      Garth was a brilliant businessman but his business was always a family affair, his wife Joy did the bookkeeping and payroll. She also ran the first parts department. Brad worked alongside his dad Garth and the girls cleaned trailers and worked open houses. The family did whatever needed to be done around the business.

        B&D was run by Brad from 1983 until he retired in 2008. During the time of Brad owning the business his sons Jhon & DR grew up working in the business from being shop hands to working on trailers. They would ride their bikes up to the business after school and worked during the summer in addition to helping around the sheep farm which had 200 head running around. Jhon and DR took over running the business in 2008 and are currently still running the company. Today, the company is still successful and is continuing to grow. The company has gone from a family only business to having a crew of 25 employees with Jhon and DR being the the head of the business and an amazing crew that helps them reach their goals everyday.

      B&D has history in Vernal and is proud to carry that honor. This entrepreneurial family has put a lot of hard work and dedication into the business to get it to the point of where it is today. With a crew working hard to get you on vacation whether it is trailer sales, parts, or services. That is the story of this 3rd generation family owned company that is continuing to strive and grow right here in their hometown of Vernal, Utah.
